Jan 8 - Mar 21 Winter EMT Course

The EMT course prepares students for certification as both a Virginia EMT and a National Registry EMT. This program provides the foundational knowledge and hands-on skills required to respond to medical and traumatic emergencies in the pre-hospital setting.

Students will be trained in all aspects of pre-hospital basic life support as defined by the Virginia Office of Emergency Medical Services (OEMS) curriculum. Instruction covers patient assessment, airway management, cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR), bleeding control, shock management, medical and trauma emergencies, childbirth, and safe transport of patients.

The course combines classroom lectures, interactive discussions, and scenario-based simulations with practical, hands-on training using medical equipment and manikins. Students will also complete clinical and field internship hours, giving them the opportunity to gain real-world experience under the supervision of certified EMS providers.

Upon successful completion, graduates will be eligible to sit for the National Registry of Emergency Medical Technicians (NREMT) exam, meeting the requirements for both state and national EMT certification. This certification opens the door to careers in fire and rescue departments, EMS agencies, hospitals, security services, and other healthcare environments.

Disney Channel's smash hit movie musical comes to life on your stage! Troy, Gabriella and the students of East High must deal with issues of first love, friends and family while balancing their classes and extracurricular activities. It's the first day after winter break at East High. The Jocks, Brainiacs, Thespians and Skater Dudes find their cliques, recount their vacations and look forward to the new year. Basketball team captain and resident jock, Troy, discovers that the brainy Gabriella, a girl he met singing karaoke on his ski trip, has just enrolled at East High. They cause an upheaval when they decide to audition for the high school musical that is being led by Ms. Darbus. Although many students resent the threat posed to the "status quo," Troy and Gabriella's alliance might just open the door for others to shine as well.

Mar 6 UMW Men's Basketball - NCAA Tournament

The University of Mary Washington will host the first and second rounds of the NCAA Division III Men’s Basketball Tournament this weekend, March 6 and 7, in Fredericksburg, Virginia. The UMW Eagles, seeded fourth in the championship and entering postseason play with a 24–3 record, will face Worcester State University on Friday at 7:30 p.m. The evening will begin with a 5:00 p.m. matchup between Worcester Polytechnic Institute and Amherst College. Winners from Friday’s games will advance to a second round contest on Saturday at 7:30 p.m., with a berth in the Sweet 16 at stake.

Step into the shadows of Fredericksburg’s past on a 75-minute winter ghost tour led under the eerie glow of the moon. Bundle up as we explore the city’s most haunted streets.

The tour begins at Historic Tales & Tails Bookstore Café, where you can purchase a drink (or pick up a spooky book) before setting out into the night. Along the way, you’ll hear true stories drawn from eyewitness accounts, historic records, and generations of local lore. This isn’t a jump-scare tour—it’s a chance to connect with the lives (and afterlives) of those who shaped this city.

This special winter walk includes a rare stop at the Masonic Cemetery, typically closed to the public, adding an extra layer of mystery to the evening.

A Community Ruck for a Cause

Join us for Ruck With Pups, a fun, purpose-driven community ruck that brings together people, dogs, and service-minded hearts for a morning of movement and impact.

Hosted in partnership by Honor Bound FIT and The Guidon Foundation, and supported by Old Dominion Humane Society and the Stafford County Sheriffs Office, this guided ruck/walk invites participants to carry weight (optional), leash up a pup, and hit the trail together in support of two important causes: strengthening our community and supporting animal welfare.

Old Dominion Humane Society will be on site with (adoptable) dogs, giving participants the opportunity to ruck alongside shelter dogs while helping them get exercise and visibility. Participants are encouraged (but not required) to bring dog food or pet supplies to donate directly to the shelter.

Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) Course Description

This Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) course provides comprehensive, entry-level training in prehospital emergency care and prepares students for certification through the National Registry of Emergency Medical Technicians (NREMT) and state licensure. The program is designed to develop the knowledge, skills, and clinical judgment required to assess, manage, and transport patients in a variety of emergency and non-emergency settings.

Course Schedule:

Dates: April 8 – June 13
Days: Tuesdays and Thursdays, 6:00 PM – 10:00 PM
Additional Sessions: Every other Saturday, 9:00 AM – 5:00 PM

Over the duration of the course, students will complete approximately 150 hours of instruction, combining classroom lecture, hands-on skills training, and scenario-based learning. Topics include airway management, patient assessment, medical and trauma emergencies, cardiology, EMS operations, and special populations. Emphasis is placed on critical thinking, teamwork, and adherence to current EMS standards of care.

Students are also required to complete clinical and/or field experiences to gain real-world exposure and meet patient contact requirements. Successful completion of all course components—including written examinations, practical skills assessments, and attendance requirements—will qualify students to sit for the NREMT EMT certification exam.

This course is ideal for individuals seeking to begin a career in emergency medical services, fire service, healthcare, or public safety, as well as those looking to enhance their emergency response capabilities.

Ruck Hunger 2026 is a team-based charity ruck march organized by Honor Bound FIT to directly support the Fredericksburg Regional Food Bank and combat food insecurity in our local community. Teams will collect shelf-stable food donations in advance and physically ruck those donations over a prescribed 3-mile route from the launch location to the food bank. Participants may complete the route multiple times throughout the day, carrying as much food as they are able, transforming physical effort into immediate, measurable impact for families in need.

This is more than a single march—it is an endurance-based service event rooted in accountability, teamwork, and community action. Teams of ruck participants and support members will work together to deliver the greatest total weight of donated food, with recognition awarded to the top-performing team. Ruck Hunger 2026 brings together veterans, first responders, gyms, churches, businesses, and civilians around a shared mission: to carry the load for others and ensure that our neighbors do not go without. Every mile matters. Every pound counts.

The Pink Carpet Event Charity Fashion Show began as a signature event of Singleton Enterprises, LLC and was officially established as a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization in 2019. Based in Stafford, the organization is dedicated to supporting breast cancer awareness and related causes. The event was founded in honor of the founder’s aunt, Ms. Johnnie Mae Simpson, who passed away after battling breast cancer in 1997. Aug 8 DHRT 50K & 3H Half Marathon

Join a bunch of fun-loving people who are as crazy as you are for the 2026 Dahlgren Heritage Rail Trail 50K and 3H (Hot, Hazy, and Humid!) Trail Half Marathon. The trail is flat, well-maintained, and mostly shaded. But running 31 miles or a half marathon in August is still crazy.

The Course

Trail Name: Dahlgren Rail Heritage Trail

Surface: Converted railroad bed. 99.8% dirt, grass, pine needles, crushed stone, small gravel

Setup: The race is an out and back

Elevation: Fairly flat with some gradual inclines and declines. Thankfully trains don't like steep hills.

Time Limit: There is an 8-hour time limit to finish the 50K race.

Support Crew: Crew assistance is limited to the aid station at the 50K turnaround. All other on-course support is prohibited.

The race is run entirely on the Dahlgren Railroad Heritage Trail in King George, VA which is a converted railroad bed and provides solid footing with little or no roots. This trail is flat, smooth, and fast with a variety of surfaces ranging from dirt, gravel, grass, and pine needles.

The trees along the trail ensure almost 100% shade during the run.

About the Laurie A. Wideman Enterprising Woman's Award
The Laurie A. Wideman Enterprising Woman's Award is an award presented annually by the Fredericksburg Regional Chamber of Commerce to a member of the Chamber's Network of Enterprising Women (CNEW). This award recognizes a woman with an independent, energetic spirit and readiness to act in business and in the community. She has a great passion for the quality of life in our region and leads with values of the highest level of integrity and honesty.

This award is named for Laurie A. Wideman, an exceptional woman in the community who was truly an enterprising woman. Laurie worked tirelessly behind the scenes for the many difference causes that she believed in, supported others in their endeavors, and had a true passion for her community and its quality of life. She served on the Chamber's Board of Directors, Leadership Advisory Board, and chaired the monthly Stafford Roundtable. Laurie was a winner of the Chamber's Small Business of the Year Award and was involved in numerous Chamber committees including the Chamber's Network of Enterprising Women (CNEW), tourism, and transportation. As active as she was with the Chamber, Laurie also served on the Board of Directors for United Way, was a former president of the Stafford Business Exchange, and represented Stafford County on the Regional Tourism Task Force.

This award has been developed based on Laurie's personality, her beliefs, and her standards.
