The Sandwich Generation
 
Come out and learn about “The Sandwich Generation.”  These caregivers are squeezed between raising children and caring for an older loved one simultaneously – about one of every three of the nation’s 65 million caregivers are part of the Sandwich Generation.

 
  • More than 24 million adults are “sandwiched” between caring for children still at home and simultaneously caring for older parents.
  • Statistics show 47 percent of those in their 40s and 50s are caregivers and among that group 42 percent are Gen X while 33 percent are baby boomers.
 
This session, given by Valerie Hopson-Bell, Geriatric Care Advisor with ElderCare Connections will teach you:

Lindsay Waters will speak on the new health plan information reporting requirements as mandated under IRS Sections 6055 and 6056 which are proving to be much more complicated than a quick scan of the forms 1095-B, 1094-C and 1095-C would suggest. She will also review the penalties for noncompliance, which have recently changed.

Sep 23    Fredtech Presents: An Evening with Joseph Novak
Spend the Evening learning more about Fredtech and hearing from Joseph Novak

Dr. Joseph Novak is currently Professor Emeritus, Cornell University, Department of Plant Science, and Senior Research Scientist at IHMC. He is author or coauthor of 29 books and more than 140 book chapters and papers in professional books and journals. His Learning How to Learn (with Gowin) published in 1984 is now in 8 other languages and is widely read. He has consulted with more than 400 schools, universities and corporations, including recent work with Procter and Gamble, NASA, Dept. of Navy, and EPRI. His recent book, Learning, Creating, and Using Knowledge: Concept Maps as Facilitative Tools in Schools and Corporations (Routledge, 2010) is currently being translated into 3 foreign languages. 

His current research work includes studies on student’s ideas on learning and epistemology, and methods of applying educational ideas and tools (such as concept mapping) in corporate settings and distance learning programs. Present work includes the development of 'expert" concept maps to "scaffold' learning, using Cmapping with Internet and other resources, providing A New Model for Education
