SUMMARY:Change a Child's Life -- for the Better!
DESCRIPTION:When a child has been abused or neglected in the Fredericksburg region\, the local judges overseeing their cases often appoint a CASA volunteer to serve as that child's advocate throughout the process. CASAs meet with the child (or sibling group) at least monthly\, conduct independent investigations into their circumstances\, and provide written reports to court\, recommending services to help the children heal from their trauma and ultimately weighing in on where it's safest for those children to live: with their parents\, with a loving relative or in an adoptive home.\n\n\n\nVolunteers receive at least 32 hours of training before ever taking a case and are virtually guaranteed to make a measurable difference in a child's life. Rappahannock CASA's next new-volunteer training session starts on Aug. 26 and ends with a swearing-in ceremony on Sept. 20. If you'd like to join us\, please be certain you can attend all the training dates listed on our website and then email us at rappcasa@gmail.com for an application. You could be the hero a child has been waiting for.
