SUMMARY:Sands Anderson Seminar "Tips and Strategies to Combat Wage and Hour Claims."
DESCRIPTION:Attorney Karen S. Elliott will present "Tips and Strategies to Combat Wage and Hour Claims." \n\n\n\nWage and hour claims are on the rise. We've seen as many as four lawsuits a week filed against Virginia employers by their employees claiming a failure to pay overtime due to misclassification. During the downturn\, many managers started doing the "job" as well as managing. When those "managers" leave\, they often claim they were workers instead of managers and then claim they were due overtime for the past three years. Come learn the basics\, including tips to avoid being sued\, and the strategies you should employ if you are sued. Attending the seminar will earn our certificate of attendance that may be used as part of your affirmative defense to establish good faith to assist with avoiding the otherwise mandatory award of double damages. \n\n\n\nPlease RSVP to Alexis Neustatter at Alexis@fredericksburgchamber.org or 540-373-9563. Attendance is limited to 25 people.
