Chambers of Commerce in Commonwealth’s “Battleground” region to host Virginia gubernatorial candidate forum
In an historic event, Virginia’s two major party candidates for governor will present their ideas for Virginia’s future to an audience of business leaders from the commonwealth’s most important electoral battleground
Lansdowne, VA -- Demonstrating the growing significance of Virginia’s most important electoral battleground region, the two major party contenders in the 2013 gubernatorial contest will appear before an audience of business and community leaders from Loudoun, Prince William, Reston and Fredericksburg in an Aug. 9 gubernatorial candidate forum.
Democrat Terry McAuliffe and Republican Ken Cuccinelli will face off in this “Battleground Forum” at the Hylton Performing Arts Center in Manassas. Following a brief opening statement, the two candidates will each take questions from a panel of seasoned business leaders on the issues of importance to the Commonwealth’s economy and business climate.
“We are proud to partner on this historic political event in Virginia,” the presidents of the participating Chambers declared in a joint statement. “This ‘Battleground’ Forum will offer business and community leaders in Virginia’s fastest-growing and most economically vibrant region an exclusive opportunity to hear the two candidates for Governor of Virginia explain how they plan to lead our great commonwealth for the next four years. Our chambers represent an economically diverse region. We share a common vision of promoting and sustaining economic growth that will benefit the thousands of businesses and jobs that we represent.”
