A Conversation About Voting, Counting, and Election Trust From Ballot to Result: What Actually Happens to Your Vote Voting season is underway in Virginia, and many voters have real questions: Am I registered at the right address? What happens after I cast my ballot? How are votes counted? When are results official? What happens if there is a close race, a provisional ballot, or a legal challenge after an election? Join the League of Women Voters of the Fredericksburg Area and the Fredericksburg City General Registrar’s Office for a nonpartisan Community Conversation about voting in 2026 and the questions voters are actually asking. This conversation will cover the August primary, the November general election, voter registration and early voting deadlines, absentee and provisional ballots, how votes move from ballot to result, and what voters should know about constitutional amendment questions on the November ballot. This is not a candidate forum or campaign event. It is a space for practical questions, honest conversation, and clear information from the local election professionals who help administer voting in our community.
