FredTech is hosting a Technology Briefing on the Apps4VA Competition!
Wednesday, April 18, 2012, 8:00 – 9:30 a.m.
at the Chamber office. (2300 Fall Hill Avenue, Suite 240, Fredericksburg)
The explosion of and social media outlets have produced a culture of mass collaboration, resulting in the availability of the latest technologies. Many organizations have turned to the public for ideas on how to use and analyze their data. One effective way to accomplish these goals is to hold a competition that encourages the design of applications (apps) that converts data into useful formats.
The Apps4VA competititon will use the VDOE’s Statewide Longitudinal Data System (SLDS) – aggregate data on Virginia’s public school students’ progress towards career readiness – to promote the development of new and innovative apps. This summer, Apps4VA will be sponsoring two competitions and an applications development event to improve teacher efficacy and student performance.
Paul McGowan, Vice President, Center for Innovative Technology (CIT) Connect Consulting Services, will explain the competition, including monetary rewards, prizes and other opportunities!
