When starting a business, entrepreneurs need to consider several questions about a variety of issues.
How should business owners classify their workers – as employees or contract labor?
Failure to classify your workers properly can result in fines by the federal government.
Keeping accurate records is another challenge.
How should business owners maintain their books? Who should be in charge of inputting receipts and expenses into the books and records? How long must such records be kept?
Failure to maintain accurate books and records can result in major audit deficiencies.
The IRS has information available to help you comply with the law.
On Wednesday, Oct. 19, Anna Falkenstein with the IRS will conduct a seminar, "Recordkeeping and Worker Classification" that explores these issues.
