Description
Join us at the Fredericksburg Area Museum on Wednesday June 11 from 7:00-8:30pm as we celebrate 160 years of freedom this Juneteenth with an inspiring lecture by community historian and activist, Eunice Haigler and local history educator Tiya Shaw. This special event reflects on the long journey from the arrival of enslaved Africans at Point Comfort in 1619 to the hard-won emancipation in Galveston, Texas, in 1865. Ms. Haigler and Shaw will guide us through this historical journey, connecting the past to the present and exploring how we can continue the fight for freedom today. They will focus on how love, faith, and action can empower us to free our families and communities. Together, we’ll envision the creation of “Love Houses”—spaces where healing, education, and hope can thrive. Through their words and reflections, we honor the enduring legacy of our ancestors and renew our commitment to carry their spirit of resilience and unity into the future. Don’t miss this opportunity to be part of a meaningful conversation on Juneteenth. pots are limited and registration is encouraged. This event is free to attend, with a suggested donation of $10.
