Maintenance Engineer
Matern Staffing is hiring a Maintenance Engineer for an apparel distribution center in Ashland to ensure the optimization and smooth operation of facility systems. The Maintenance Engineer is essential for the upkeep of mechanical, pneumatic, and electronic controls, material handling systems, and building conditions. Working closely with cross-functional teams, you’ll help maximize the performance, stability, and scalability of the distribution systems.
By keeping operations running efficiently, training staff, and assisting with future automation rollouts, you’ll play a vital role in delivering products that bring joy and connection to people everywhere.
This is a direct hire position.
Salary:
$58k-$79k/yr + $3,000 sign-on bonus
Schedule:
- 2nd shift: 2:30pm – 11pm, Sunday thru Thursday

What You’ll Do:
- Maintain and repair facility systems, including conveyors and control systems (e.g., motors, belts, scanners, VFDs)
- Troubleshoot and repair mechanical and electrical components like photo eyes, solenoids, air valves, and motors
- Supervise and train Facilities employees in the distribution center, ensuring safe and efficient workflows
- Collaborate with IT, vendor support, and staff to diagnose and resolve operational issues
- Develop and execute training programs for maintenance personnel and distribution center staff
- Manage preventive maintenance programs and spare parts inventory
- Ensure compliance with all safety, legal, and regulatory standards, maintaining accurate HAZMAT records
- Respond to operational inquiries and resolve facility-related issues quickly and professionally
What You’ll Need:
- Bachelor’s degree in an Engineering discipline or equivalent experience with industrial equipment
- 1-3 years of relevant experience in equipment maintenance, particularly with conveyors
- Ability to adapt to change and work in a fast-paced, high-volume environment
- Strong problem-solving and troubleshooting skills
- Leadership and training experience, with a focus on team collaboration and effective communication
- Ability to travel as needed to support additional sites and train new staff
- Flexibility with schedule, including off-hours support as required
- Ability to pass drug screening and background checks
