About Us
Friends of the Rappahannock was founded in 1985 as a non-profit, grassroots conservation organization. We work to educate everyone about the river and to advocate for actions and policies that will protect and restore the Rappahannock River.
We advocate at the local, state, and federal level to ensure the maximum protections for the Rappahannock River. This includes a wide range of programs, issues, and campaigns that takes us across the watershed and beyond. Our restoration of the Rappahannock watershed includes tree planting, oyster reef restoration, river clean-ups, shoreline planting, and many more projects. With both our advocacy and restoration focuses, we seek to empower all age groups to create river stewards who will care for the Rappahannock for generations.
