Join Fredericksburg Area Museum (FAM) on October 8th from 5 – 8 PM an listen to a free performance from Gaye Adegbalola and Lisa Lim. The performance will be on the third floor of FAM from 7 PM – 8 PM. Attendees are welcome to visit the museum’s galleries before the performance. Throughout the evening, FAM will have a cash bar and light refreshments for sale.

Gaye Todd Adegbalola is best known as a founding member of Saffire – The Uppity Blues Women (1984 – 2009) and has toured extensively in the US and internationally. As of 2019, she has 17 CDs in international distribution including her latest release, “The Griot,” in January, 2019 — which has received rave reviews. In 1982, she was named the Virginia State Teacher of the Year as a science teacher for Fredericksburg City Schools.
For 25 years, she directed Harambee 360º Experimental Theatre. She has also won numerous awards for her activism, her music, and her songwriting — including the “Kristin Lems’ Social Change Through Music” Award at the National Women’s Music Festival and the “Koko Taylor Queen for the Blues” Award from the Jus’ Blues Foundation for Preserving Traditional Blues.l. She is also in demand as a motivational speaker, a workshop presenter, and the proud mother of son, Juno Lumumba Kahlil. Lisa Lim is an award-winning singer-songwriter and multi-instrumentalist, but best known as for her amazing guitar work. She is one of the hottest female axe slingers on the East Coast. While she has a killer blues/rock edge, she can play in most any genre including blues, rock, roots, funk, pop, and folk. Whether playing lead, slide or rhythm guitar, her chops are stellar. She performs with her own band and as a freelance musician. Lisa is a respected music educator who serves on the faculty at the National Guitar Workshop and is in demand for private and group lessons (on varied instruments) and clinician performance seminars including NAMM trade shows. Lisa was Gaye’s first slide guitar teacher. Join the FAM for free public programs throughout 2019. FAM’s First Friday series includes extended hours and engaging programs to the public every month.
