Safety Manager
Matern Staffing is hiring a Safety Manager for a sanitation and waste management company in King George, VA, where you'll lead the development and execution of critical safety programs that protect workers, improve compliance, and support overall operational efficiency.
In this role, you’ll apply your safety knowledge and leadership skills to foster a safe and healthy work environment across diverse public service operations. You’ll help reduce incidents, enhance training, and ensure compliance with OSHA and other regulations - while building a culture where safety is a shared responsibility. This is a temp to hire position growth opportunity.
Salary:
- $26 - $30, depending on experience
Schedule:
- Monday–Friday, full-time
What You’ll Do:
- Plan, implement, and manage safety programs to eliminate risks and support compliance
- Investigate workplace accidents, determine root causes, and recommend corrective actions
- Conduct regular inspections of equipment, facilities, and operations for hazards and violations
- Lead safety training initiatives and ensure proper use of personal protective equipment (PPE)
- Maintain accurate documentation of inspections, investigations, and safety data
- Monitor environmental and workplace safety conditions to ensure compliance with standards
- Collaborate with leadership on improvements, initiatives, and regulatory reporting
What You’ll Need:
- At least 5 years of experience in safety or environmental health roles
- Some college coursework in Safety or a related field
- Strong knowledge of OSHA standards and industrial safety practices
- Experience leading incident investigations and training programs
- Excellent communication skills for working across teams and departments
- Ability to analyze safety data and make recommendations for improvement
- Physical ability to inspect facilities (including occasional lifting, climbing, or working in outdoor conditions)
